Who is your favorate character?

Postby Ed Diggs on Thu Feb 07, 2008 6:45 am

I know that there are many more characters but I decided to limit your options to the main characters in A Sword from Red Ice. All of the chapters in the book where told from the perspective of one these characters except Angus Lok; his story was told in the prologue and epilogue.

If none of the choices is your favorate still pick one and then write your very favorate below. Also mention who you voted for.

I have a weakness for Drey myself. He's solid, quiet, fiercely loyal, probably damn good looking. What else could a girl ask for??

Well MissMaggie Addie Gunn has all those qualities too. As well as being experienced (Love an older man) Probably doesn't have the looks but you can't have it all!

I had trouble choosing between Raif and Vaylo actually. But the much stranger adventures centered around Mr. Sevrance won the day.

angus lok will end up being one of the most ruthless characters in this book. especialy when he finds out that penthero iss is responsable for his families death and cannot exact revenge. That is assuming penthero is actually dead and not just trapped under the rubble

Raif, all the way. He has my favourite passages. Waiting before the attack on the Bludd women/children. Duff's. Meeting Death. Course, they're all back in book 1, but still :)
Death smiled as she withdrew. Kill an army for me, Raif Sevrance. Any less and I just might call you back.

I've got to agree with Stu (theUnguru) on Raif. I also liked Drey but didn't care for the fact that he blindly followed Mace (as did many others). Raif is my fav, with Uncle Angus as a very close second. I could see the two of them traveling together, kicking undead ass all over the place! The JVaction would freaking Rock!

I just can't bring myself to believe that Drey is just some sort of mindless drone following Mace with no concept of whats going on. If that was the case why would he have let Raif go that night outside of the Inch?

Perhaps I should have worded that a bit differently. Drey is a Clansman through and through, part of something bigger than himself (the clan). Raif's place in the world is more of a loaner, at least he seemed to feel that way more often than not. He felt apart from the clan from early on and had to live differently than Drey. I identified with Raif and therefore see him as 'better than', when it comes to other characters, except for maybe Angus. If this were an MMORPG, I'd pull whats left of my hair out, trying to decide how much time to devote to my Raif-char vs my Angus-char, LOL !

My thoughts on Drey exactly. :D
Ash I think is my favourite, for now, that is. That being said though, I wouldn't actually like to be a Reach. With that amount of power I would only get myself into trouble. :P

Apologies for spelling errors in my posts today. Lost me glasses and so things tend to be a bit blurred.

Red_Phobos,

Good call, although I believe the poll is for POV characters only.

If it was any character, Mal would be up there for myself also. He's such a wonderful character.
