Hi JV. I'm glad I found this site. I have read all of your books over the last few years, and enjoyed them all. I came to the website looking for information on when "Red Ice" would be released, only to find it just had! (Just in time for my birthday ). I look forward to reading it.
I'm not your typical sci-fi fan, but after reading The Baker's Boy, I was hooked! For years now, I have had some ideas for a fantasy novel of my own floating around in my head. Eventually, I'll settle down to the keyboard, but that won't be for a while. For now, I'm content with being the reader. Especially of great books like yours!

Hi Jade and welcome! I hope your Birthday's a very happy one and you enjoy reading Red Ice.
I believe jv has recently left for a Thanksgiving trip to Catalina. This proves beyond all reasonable doubt that our timing (this board only opened yesterday) is not great!

Hi!
I'm Kevin A., one of the lucky readers who got to read and review "Red Ice" before it came out in stores. That was fun!
Like jade-athyst, I wasn't that much of a sci-fi/fantasy reader until I read an article in Writer's Digest about how JV got her first book published. I'm not saying The Baker's Boy changed my life, but it definately affected my reading habits.
I also have a story idea for a novel nagging at me too, but I've yet to give enough attention to the idea to turn it into a serious project. Hopefully, one day, I'll get to it.
Pleased to finally meet you, Paul. _________________ Something clever will go here eventually, simple as that.

Hi Kevin and welcome to the board!
It's interesting to read about the idea you have for a story. It reminds me of that familiar old saying - everyone has a novel inside them. While I'm not sure about that (my mind's like an empty page ) I certainly think we all need an outlet for our natural creativity. For that reason alone I hope you pursue your project. Good ideas deserve to be realized.

Hello,
My name is Drew (incredibly creative handle I have for the boards, eh?). Came across A Cavern of Black Ice in late 2004 when a room mate of mine loaned it to me, gobbled it and A Fortress of Grey Ice up in very quick succession. Just finishing up Red Ice this evening. I have always been a Fantasy and Sci-Fi fan and am excited for the next novel.
Nothing too important to state about myself, have been working on my own project since I was in grade school, reworked the early writing multiple times but not only don't have the gall to see about getting published, also don't know where to begin. I'm happy just writing to please myself though. Anyway, quite a ramble for just saying hello, so I'll cut the post off now.

Ciao tutti!
My name is Mimi and I'm temporarily living in Rome, Italy. I have yet to read Red Ice, but am looking forward to it. A copy is waiting for me in the US, which I'll be visiting soon. If there is a novel somewhere inside me, it must reside very very deeply somewhere.

I am horribly excited to join this messageboard I love the Book of Words and the Sword of Shadows series, they've been my staple for a couple of years while I drift in and out of the fantasy genre I love. I can't wait to get my hands on A Sword from Red Ice and visit the frozen north again... just going to have to get someone to ship the book to me in Asia...
I'd also like to thank JVJ for letting us share her thoughts and snippets of life on her blog, and for hosting the lovely and varied website. It's incredibly warming to find such an inspiring author sharing so many things with her fans!

Hey all,
Glad this board has finally come into being!
My name's John. Julie (J.V.? Miss Jones?) is one of my favourite fantasy authors, along with G.R.R.M. and Scott Lynch. I've just finished A Sword from Red Ice, which was good. Only now I have to wait another few years for the next one. Dang.
Good result for the Toffees the other day. Shame we got stuffed by Liverpool though!
PS: If you're on Facebook there's a fan group for the Sword of Shadows
series you're welcome to join.

Hello everyone!
Came across the book thanks to a friend (hi John!) after having started but never finished The Baker's Boy, and it's been a very entertaining ride. I haven't read the new book yet but I'm going to be getting it for Christmas, hurray! I also like Scott Lynch and GRRM, along with Angela Carter, Jacqueline Carey, Neil Gaiman and Guy Gavriel Kay.
I love your blog, Miss JVJ!
Yet another aspiring writer here. Emphasis on 'aspiring'. Maybe 'perspiring' is more accurate - I've yet to finish anything I've started!

Hello, My name is Maggie. I've been reading Miss J.V's books since Baker's boy was the only one she had published (was that 96ish or something). I was in England visiting family at the time and picked it up in a little bookshop while we were out one day. I became instantly addicted! I would have to say that the Sword of Shadows are some of my all time favorite novels. Heck, I ate ramen noodles for a week so I could spend my grocery money on Sword from Red Ice!

Hello everyone!! I’ve been following JV since Barbed Coil came out. I have read every book out to date. I have also created a knife like Ravis's and I am currently making another one with better steel blade and silver wrap that is imbedded into the hilt (the acid darkening was a pain). I am currently deployed to Afghanistan and will be for only another 2 months (WOOOOT). I’ve carried all the books all over this damn country with me in my ruck sack(ask jvj, i sent her pics). They are a much much much better company then the ANA who do not speak English and don’t take baths...
Ohh and the smooth rock thing… is true (if you don’t know what that means… don’t ask…Nasty)
