hey all...

Postby dleerious on Tue Jul 01, 2008 5:26 pm

hello everyone,

This is my first post on jvj, so be gentle with me! haa

I read Cavern and Fortress about 3 yrs ago and then started on Robert Jordan's wheel of time series, where I'm currently on a long break on book 7. I will read Sword from Red Ice soon, but I'm first re-reading Cavern and Fortress. I'm almost done with Cavern and hope to buzz through Fortress quickly. I've also read The Barbed Coil a couple years ago and could not put it down.

Yesterday at lunch I was reading at a coffee shop, here in San Jose, CA, and I laughed outloud when I got to the bottom of page 628 on Cavern. I don't recall the exact phrase, but it went something like "there's no faster man than a man with rabbit runs."

What else do you include in a first post?
I'm 6'2", divorced, dark hair, blue eyes.........oops, thats a singles ad post.
lol!

I hiked up to the top of Half Dome last Friday (in Yosemite, CA)
not too bad for a 40-something guy.

heres to more posts and lots of good e-conversations!

Cheers all,

Dave

Have you played wow?
Adjacent to Tanaris is a place called Ungoro Crater.

Dave/Dleerious,

I'm a constant addict/reformer. Currently haven't played for about three months :).

I know the crater well, been kicking around a certain big angry t-rex in there many times.

I hear you UnGuru,

I've quit and come back to wow twice now.
The first time I quit, I deleted all of my characters (toons) before turning off the billing. After starting up again my son, David jr, contacted blizzard and had them bring back my 60 pally (named 'dleerious', of course) from their server backups. I have no 70 toons, as I dont play that much and cannot stand to wait for groups or do instances much over an hour or two. I've got a 64 pally, a 53 hunter, a 30 mage and a few lower toons.

as for "dleerious", dlee was my nickname working in tech support for many years, something about too many Dave's/David's in one department. And years of working in any tech support department can make anyone delirious, and thats the origin of Dleerious ! :D

Haven't play WOW. I went the EverQuest 2 way. Love that game, although I have very little time to play at the moment. Normally land up playing until 2 in the morning, then at 6am, I'm swearing due to lack of sleep, and I am never playing again... until 10pm that is...

My hubby is a gamer too. So our thing is we play providing our daughter is asleep and isn't being affected by our bad habits.

hmmmmmm......"kids being affected by our bad habits....hmmmm"

When my sons, David and Corey, were about 11 and 13 (18 mos apart), I purchased the parts and taught them how to build their own computers. Then the gaming started.... the halflife, the counterstrike, the warcraft3, then world of warcraft. My ex-wife was threatening life and limb for a while there! <snicker!>

David, 20, still plays wow and star wars galaxies. Corey, almost 19, doesn't play pc games anylonger, he spends his time going to the gym, chasing girls, and adding to his tattoo collection.

As for dad (me), I keep threatening to quit wow for good, once I get a life, lol!
I've said, for the past year, that once I made it up halfdome (last week), I'd buy a motorcycle and start a new chapter in my life on two wheels. I do need to pay off my car first tho <sigh>.

LOL! Great story!
Angel is only 2 - so a wee bit young to build her own pc.
My hubby says she only needs to learn 2 languages C sharp and VB. English is optional...

Love the origins of your name, and totally feel where you are coming from. I have spent many years in support, sorting out ID 10 T errors.

too funny on the ID10T errors!!!!

I'm still a Technical Support Engineer, but my main duties now are to teach a 5 day class, twice a month, to train Field Service Engineers how to fix and maintain medical equipment that helps Radiologists find breast cancer. Its a good job but I gotta admit, after 7+ years, I'm getting kinda itchy to try something else.

Back when I worked tech support for an ISP here in California (Netcom), I had once made a top ten list of the scarriest things customers have said to us on the phones in tech support. I've long since forgotten the list, but I believe the #1 answer was......"But I am the network administrator!"

good times..........no wonder I used to drink like a fish!!!!! heh
