Ok folks I finally finished ASFRI and I wanted to discuss people who will possibly be important in the war with the Endlords besides Raif and Ash.

So here it goes:

Drybone - Half Sull and half Bluddsman, possibly the best warrior in the north, a natural leader, seems to know whats coming.

Vaylo Bludd - One of the coolest characters in the story, probably the only person capable of rallying the clans in defense against the unmade, certainly the only clan leader who knows how bad things are going to get.

Bram Cormac - Smart, skilled young man who will now be indoctrinated into the Phage and trained to fight the unmade. A person of quality.

Stillborn - A great swordsman, strong, a good ally to have in a fight, possible leader of the maimed men.

Marafice Eye - possibly, if he pulls his head out of his butt and stops worrying about being surlord, he just might be the rallying point for the city men.

Raif Severance - Most likely the best warrior in Blackhail (even though he isnt currently in Blackhail)

Effie Severance - Should have been trained as the clan guide of blackhail, her lore gives her some unique powers and she seems to be able to use those powers without her lore.

Raina Blackhail - The Hail wolf, hopefully she can save Blackhail before its too late.

So what do you guys think? I would like to discuss these characters and see if people agree with my assesment and see if there are other characters i forgot that could be added to this list. I didnt list Baralis and Crope because I think Baralis is with the End lords.

Agreed on all those mentioned, but here are a few other things to keep in mind:

Who is the healthy Scarpe brother that Stillborn used to fight? Might the maimed man have a role to play in Mace's downfall? Raina has her sights set on the good of Blackhail, but she needs Mace out of the way first - let's not forget that he owed a debt for Iss's (and therefore the baddies') help in becoming chief. Unlike Vaylo, he shows absolutely no remorse for his entanglement with the late surlord.

I can't say whether the fate of Blackhail is directly entwined with the war, but clan matters are at the heart of the belief in several of the series' main characters, and might have an indirect effect. Drey is in Spire Vanis, and I don't think his presence there will be purely as a captive. Even though he is not a POV character, he is "all that is good about clan".

Also, what ever happened to Sagra Veys after he pledged himself to the End Lords?

Undoubtedly, Baralis will also have an important role - as the link to the Book of Words, and also as a powerful agent of the Endlords, I think he will be a key to the events surrounding the war.

I have a lot of questions that need answering! All in good time, I suppose

OK, two cents worth contributed.

I think, or I hope, we hear something from Heterias Cant again. He knows things that no one else in the north knows. I really want him to hook up with Raif again.

Should add Angus & Cassie. They were present in Sword if only by sheer weight of what had happened to them .. and the last chapter is such a powerful piece of writing (from my reading anyway).

I hope they will be major players in the story onwards.

Man I just realized in the post above I meant Drey Severance and not Raif for the part where I wrote "Raif Severance - Most likely the best warrior in Blackhail (even though he isnt currently in Blackhail)"

And good point about Heritas Cant as well as Cassie and Angus, Angus we all know is a formidable person and Cassie handled herself well with the assasin. My problem with this though is that Heritas Cant gave me the feeling of having an ulterior motive in regards to Ash which makes me not trust him completely.

And quixoticfruit interesting point about Stillborn possibly having a connection with Mace. In fact I will speculate further that perhaps someday he could reestablish himself as a clansman during the dark times and possibly rise to a high rank in a clan, a clan like Blackhail.

Good food for thought.

if even half of the people you talk about in this forum pan out she will need more than two books.

angus lok is going to kill a lot of humans.
baralis and crope will end up helping ash.
drey will become king of clans although not many clansman will be left to rule over. the sull will be saved and there will be alot more sull involvement in the next two books wich will mean more charachters we have already met must die early in order to leave room for stories from ashes point of view.
