ok i no im not alone when i say i was heart broken when raif and ash went their seperate ways in book2.
Sad Sad Sad
on thinking about it... maybe the sull seperated them for a reason..perhaps they taught that the reach and the watcher of the dead would be too dangerous left together.we know they recognised both for what they were immedatley.their fear of Raif and their knowledge of the power a reach can pocesses might have caused them to act.

because they fear Raif they took Ash instead. could they mea to use ash for their own devices..restore land lost??...train her to fight so that she may even be used as a weapon against raif??

Those are good thoughts. I can't see the Sull using Ash to regain land, from what I read they are still given to a higher purpose. In saying that however, I'm wondering what purpose Lan had.

A weapon against Raif has potential. Depends on what the Sull think, really think, Raif is.

The general idea that the Sull did not want Ash to be near Raif has a lot of merit.

I think that the most recent book explained Ash's relation to the unmade a little more clearly. The unmade have a love hate relationship with her in a way and it seems to be part of it is because of how effectively she can be used against them.

A basic thought I have is that with how much the Sull want to presurve their race I would have thought they would killed Raif by now (since they see him as likely to destroy them). As they have not they must see him as likely to contribute to stopping the unmade.

I thought the proffessy was that Raif and Ash both are best able to fight thouse behide the blindwall if they are around eachother. So this lead me to really wonder why Arc and Mal still decided to take her away. After all, if you will let Raif live, you might as well let him be near the one he is destined to work best will.

I suppose the next book might explain the nuances in Arc and Mal's decision. For all that has been revieled about the Sull they are still shrouded in mist.

That's very true. We still, after 3 books, don't know much about the Sull. I like that. Bits and pieces.

Although I'd forgotten about Meeda till this re-read. She gave a bit of insight into Sull mentality.

the ice trapper gave the reason why the sull hate raif.

they have a prophecy saying that Mor Drakka will watch the end of the Sull. And the reason why they don't kill him to prevent this is because he can heart kill

or u could think of it this way , if raif is ment to destroy the sull , how can he do it if Ash is now apart of the Sull? Her protection was pretty much what kept him going for a while there , they could be using her like a hostage in a way??

very interesting. i think the sull will attempt to use raif, maybe they will be undecided. some will want him around during days darker than nights, others will not want his help and would see him dead asap.

the reason they have been loosing so much land is because every thousand years, or probably every couple of thousand years a reach is born that WILL break the blind wall. the sull are chosen to fight them, and i like that jvj mentions a lot of the unmade are sull, some even great sull kings. the sull will do no retaking of land until the blind wall is secured indeffinitely, and their numbers rise.
