Hi Everyone, I'm Mark.
I'm a Brit with itchy feet and I'm now living in the South Of France. I make a living writing but it's a commercial thing, I've never knowingly penned any fiction. I'd like to change that. I'm not lacking ideas but stamina and dedication to the enterprise... (Indicated action - read "On Writing then DO SOMETHING.)
I discovered JVJ when I was visiting the UK and converting a load of surplus books to cash. I saw The Baker's Boy on a shelf in the shop, read a couple of pages and was instantly hooked so I bought it. Sorry to say it was a used copy so our host here didn't make a penny from the transaction. I've since made good though and bought a nice new copy that now has a permanent home on my shelves along with JVJ's other works. It's pretty obvious, but I'll say it anyway - big fan.
I live near the Pyrenees and the Med (eteranean???) Sea. I'm well into the outdoors so this place fits like a glove. Not thirty minutes away there's a place that bills itself "Le Ville de Livre," the village of books. It's apparently a bit like Hay on Wye in the UK. Must see. Being an outdoors type I really appreciate the surroundings here. It's also a locality with a focus on a lot of the Grail-type literature that's been around recently. Montsegure and Carcassonne are only a matter of half an hour's drive away. If you've read Kate Moss, Labyrinth in particular, sorry to let you down, my enduring memory of Carcassonne is Betty Boop thermometers at twenty percent off. That said, Le Cite is a stunning sight.
I look forward to getting to know you all and contributing to our forum now and then.
Thanks to JVJ for providing the site.
Mark
(Mark is my real name - if it helps me settle in here, you can call me Marrk)
