Great Book

Postby Ksandlin on Wed Aug 20, 2008 3:32 am

I read the book just recently, honestly, I'm not much of a reader but this book caught my attention, I loved it all. Though, I'm curious, the way it ended, I felt there should have been another book to follow it. But all in all, it's great and I'm going to try and get all books and have my own collection. I must say, that I enjoyed the detail immensely

Welcome to the board, Ksandlin! I'm glad you enjoyed the book.

There's not a whole lot of feedback in this section thus far. I suspect there are plenty of Sword of Shadows readers who have still not sampled the delights of The Barbed Coil. Positive comments like yours might persuade them to give it a try.

This is true. I am one of them Paul. It's the only one of Julie's books (the buyable in a shop ones) that I haven't read.

As Derrin Hinch would say .. Shame. Shame. Shame.
Death smiled as she withdrew. Kill an army for me, Raif Sevrance. Any less and I just might call you back.

Welcome aboard Ksandlin, hey Paul,

After my first time through Sword and Fortress, about 3 yrs ago, I read Barbed Coil. It rates as one of my fastest reads for a novel. It was so riveting that I could not put it down.

Sadly, Barbed Coil is about to move down one place on my list of fastest reads.

Gladly, this is because I'm burning through a Sword from Red Ice!
If I can't get through two or three chapters a day, I go nuts wanting to find out what happens next!

Once I'm done with Sword (75 pages to go), I'm starting Baker's Boy and will read the book of words trilogy. Someday I'll end my long break on book 7 of Wheel of Time and finish that series, but not until I'm done with JV's clanholds! and maybe one more time through Barbed Coil :D

I would also like to say welcome to Ksandlin.
I am glad you enjoyed the Barbed Coil. I think it is one of the finest stand-alone fantasy novels out there. JV has the rare gift of inspiring people to read. I think that is the mark of true talent:-)
Here's hoping you try the rest of her works, each one has the same effect... very hard to put down!
Happy reading and posting:)
