Favourite Band/Music

Postby Red_Phobos on Tue Mar 17, 2009 8:31 pm

Slightly lame topic, but I make no apologies for it! What I'd like is for people to post a link to a video of their "favourite" band or song. Ignore the somewhat childish "my favourite is..." sentiment and post some stuff. I always like coming across new music.

Rules: Only one song please, and comment on the song or video of the poster prior to you. It could be a great song you post, or a really unusual or idiosyncratic video- I don't mind.

Is my offering. I love the complexity of the lyrics and music, and whilst the video is not the official one, I find it completely fascinating.

I look forward to seeing what you have to offer.

Here's my current favorite song:

I think this type of music would go well with the Clanholds in Ms. Jones' world. There are also version of this song (same singer&band) in Celtic.

I haven't really listened to the song Red posted, but the part I did listen to was different and decent. (I'm not good at coming up with the comments.)

oooh i love both of the offerings so far :)
the video clip for tool is awesome- was it from a cartoon or some other source? its insane! Besides Maynard is a god of vocals, i personally love A perfect circle better, but that's just me.

as for Sinead O'Connor, she has such a magical voice!

here is my offering to the song pile!

I like both - though I disagree about the clanholds music comment - it reminds me too much of the early modern period, 17th/18th century, rather than the earlier period I equate the clanholds with. Maybe it's the drums, maybe the pipes. I'm not sure, though I do like it. I only know one other Chieftains song, 'Changing your demeanour'. Seem like a decent band.

As for the tool vid, I believe it's some weird French cartoon from the 1960's or so, but I find it enthralling, and it seems to go really well with the song for some reason!

I like this one. It is funny and childish :D

Also, I listen much to Dropkick Murphys these days.

I like alot of everything fromabout the 15th century on to next mellinia. And though I have no links to share and I have loads of favorites I'll offer "Crowded House" as a band fovorite, among many favorites. I think "freedom within" might be the title, of one of their best songs. I love music though, and am not put off, by your "lame" choice of topic. Also might try David Grisom, a type of jazzy mandolin bluegrass or Hoagy Charmicael a big band blues ballad dude of 20's thru 60's era.

David Grisman not Grisom. Pardon my typos...

David Grisman is known for the the creation of DAWG music and Mike somnthing or other on guitar can pick a mean string
