Book 4 Predictions

Have your say on A Cavern of Black Ice, A Fortress of Grey Ice and A Sword From Red Ice.

I am not sure about Ash being part Sull, I not saying its not true I just have doubts, primarily due to the fact that Mal and Ark had to drain her blood and give her fresh Sull blood, which indirectly indicate to me that she had no Sull in her bloodlines, or it could mean she was like a trenchlander and needed purification.

One time I asked JVJ point blank in an email if Ash was Jack and Tarissa's daughter and she told me that she couldnt tell me that, but that there were red herrings in place, so with that comment in mind I think it is possible that we have some surprises in store for us. The boots could have been Angus's (he seems quite familiar with that gate), the babe could have been Raif, or possibly Bram Cormac, both are of the right age.

In regards to predictions I think that the Unmade will find a way past the blindwall and begin their conquest.

Yes dont forget about Tarissa and Jack. Ash has to be their child. I'm pretty certain. Even though JVJ doesnt come right out and say it, she makes it pretty clear.

Remember when Lan was about to have Ash slayed right outside the 13 wells? She almost took everyone to hell when the voices where telling her to reach. Mal came just in time and saved her without her using her powers. Maybe she will have to use her powers again and put another hole in the Blind. As far as we know Mal is the only Sull that knows and trusts her and will not kill her.

I think we discussed in depth in another thread about Ash's birth and that the consensus was that she was Jack and Tarissa's kid. I think that she has magic, but it is not Sull magic. Her being Sull I think is more of a state of mind rather than actually using Sull magic - her magic is older, Reach magic.

I think that we'll find out more about the Sull and that there will be some prophecy about the Raven King (ie Raif) and the Reach fighting together and that when this occurs, they will win but all the Sull will die in the fight. And probably the Sull think if they kill Ash before this happens they won't die, but I think people like Mal know that if they kill Ash, they will all become unmade.

Bear, + in Sword From Red Ice we now know some Sull think Ash is worth more dead than alive thanks to Lan. They can use her blood, hair, teeth, skin, anything to destroy the Unmade without having to heart kill them. Interesting twist.

Back up there.... Ash's ancestry would have to be tied up to the Book of Words. Her mother is named Tarissa, also the name of Jack's first lover. Ash is born shortly after Baralis is captured by Iss (or before, but it's around the same time).

!!!!SPOILER!!!! If you have not read Book of words, don't read this!!!!

ok. I warned you

Jack left Tarissa to help Melli and Tawl overthrow Kylock and Baralis. Given the time it takes to win a war and for Crope and Baralis to escape over the mountains to the north of Bren (which is visible in the SOS map), this would probably have taken 9 months. It is, therefore, very very very likely that Ash is the daughter of half-brother and sister, offspring of King Lesketh.

However, the similarities between Jack and Tarissa (hazel eyes, chestnut locks) seem not to have been inherited by Ash. This is curious as Angus and Darra seem to recognise her. I'd love to find out what the link might be between them and her mother.

If Jack is her father, it would explain a great deal about her power. His power was prophesied as being one that would destroy Larn, making him one of the most potent sorcerers to live. We don't know much about his mother, other than that she was born on the island to a crippled servant. I can't remember her father being mentioned, but he might have been a priest at the temple. But her colouring was also dark, as was Magra's, Ash's other potential grandmother.

So, if my assumptions of Ash's ancestry are correct, she would not be clannish. Nor would she be Sull, as other than her changed eyes, she is "not of Sull blood" and does not share their physical characteristics.

But I digress....

Hahaha. I do the same thing. You took it to way further detail than we did.

I thought it was nicely summarised none-the-less.

I still like to think of Ash as a Sull princess. I know I am wrong but I like the thought. :)

Anyone here thinks Ash and Raif will ever see each other again? Or are they forever doomed to go their seperate paths? Because I felt bad for Raif in the 3rd book coz he seriously loves Ash who doesnt care for him at all. Why does Raif have to be the one to carry all the burdens and sadness when all Ash was doing was screwing around and having fun? It is just unfair that one guy has to carry all that burden alone. I would really like to see Raif confess to Ash

That would require him to have feelings towards her at all. And to be still able to feel anything when they next meet. And meet they will, I am sure, for they seem to become the greatest fighters against the Endlords.

Your burden-complaint again. Cope. He is the tragic hero of the series. He is Watcher of the Dead. Do you really expect a happy end for him?

Nope. Hope is eternal though. But no wont happen.

Only prediction I am willing to make that wont make me face the fact of a most likely martyrish sacrificial ending is a Star Wars moment.

????: Raif and/or Ash, I am your father and/or mother.

Raif and/or Ash: THATS NOT TRUE THATS IMPOSSIBLE!

etc. etc.

Edit: Before anyone says anything about the father AND/or mother part. Hey were talking bout magic here, u never know
